CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced the inaugural recipients of the Coaches Legacy Awards presented by Nufabrx, recognizing the all-time winningest coaches in NJCAA history. This marks the first time in the nearly 90-year history of the NJCAA that coaches have been honored in this manner. Nearly 200 coaches across 28 sports were nominated by the member institutions where they served.
Among the distinguished honorees are Jack Robertson (Men's Basketball) and Wayne Larker (Baseball) of the Coastal Alabama - South Athletic Department, formerly known as Faulkner State Community College Athletic Department.
Jack Robertson – Men's Basketball, Coastal Alabama - South
Jack Robertson dedicated more than four decades to building and leading the men's basketball program at Coastal Alabama Community College, formerly Faulkner State. He began his tenure ahead of the 1972-73 season and retired following the 2015-16 campaign, concluding an extraordinary 43-year career that also included serving as the college's athletic director.
Robertson compiled an impressive career record of 855 wins and 449 losses, earning three state championships and 14 Southern Division titles. Under his leadership, Coastal Alabama made three appearances in the NJCAA Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament. His contributions to the sport have earned him induction into the NJCAA Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame, the NJCAA Region 22 Hall of Fame, and the Baldwin County High School Hall of Fame.

Wayne Larker – Baseball, Coastal Alabama - South
Wayne Larker joined the Coastal Alabama baseball program in 1983 as an assistant coach and took over as head coach during the 1985 season. Over the next 35 years, Larker guided the program to new heights, capturing five Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) state titles and making the school's first-ever appearance in the NJCAA Junior College World Series in 2010.
Larker retired in 2018 with a career coaching record of 988 wins and 707 losses. In recognition of his impact on the game, he was inducted into the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2008, being part of a four-member class that year. In 2016, he succeeded longtime friend, colleague, and fellow honoree Jack Robertson as Athletic Director of Coastal Alabama Community College.

NJCAA Celebration of Legacy
All honorees were formally recognized at a special luncheon held on June 17 in downtown Charlotte, N.C.
"Being able to recognize our coaches, past and present, is a wonderful thing for the NJCAA, our member institutions, the coaches, and their families," said Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President and CEO. "We look forward to having many of these coaches come together for us to celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to the NJCAA later this year."
