MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) announced its ACCC Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Jan. 13, with the Coastal Alabama - South Basketball programs sweeping the weekly honors. The awards recognize performances during the week of Jan. 6-12.
Josh Williams of Coastal Alabama - South Men's Basketball and Tyra Caves of the Coastal Alabama - South Women's Basketball earned the conference accolades in the first week of action following the winter break.
Williams, a sophomore from Helena, Ala., scored 32 points in Coastal Alabama - South's win over Pearl River Community College (Miss.), the lone game for the Coyotes during the week. The performance marked the third time during the 2025-26 season Williams has eclipsed the 30-point mark and the eighth time he has scored at least 20 points. He currently leads all ACCC Division I players in scoring, averaging 20.9 points per game, and the weekly conference honor is his second of the season.
Tyra Caves, a sophomore from Jackson, Ala., averaged 17.0 points per game during a 2-0 week for the Coyotes, helping extend the team's current six-game winning streak. She recorded a career-high 26 points in a victory over Delgado Community College (La.) and added 13 points in a lopsided win against Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (Ala.). Caves leads ACCC Division I in three-point shooting percentage at 41.0%, as Coastal Alabama - South has opened the 2026 calendar year with four straight wins to improve to 12-2 on the season.
Both Coastal Alabama - South basketball teams will open ACCC Division I play on Thursday, Jan. 15, with a road doubleheader at Gadsden State (Ala.). Tipoff times are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT and 7:30 p.m. CT in Gadsden, Ala.
