David Haney joined Coastal Alabama Community College as Athletic Communications Specialist in March 2025 and is based on the Monroeville campus. In his role, he oversees coverage for all Coastal Alabama Athletics programs while managing the official Coastal Alabama South and North Athletics websites and social media platforms.

Prior to joining Coastal Alabama, Haney spent six seasons at the University of Mobile (Ala.) as Director of Sports Information. During his tenure, he led a comprehensive redesign of the athletics website in partnership with SIDEARM Sports, expanded live game coverage through play-by-play broadcasting, and frequently served as the primary on-air voice for home events. He also acted as the primary liaison to key organizations and partners, including the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), PrestoSports, and Box Out Sports. Haney’s contributions were recognized when he was named the 2022-23 SSAC Sports Information Director of the Year.

Before his time at the University of Mobile, Haney spent three seasons with the Mobile BayBears, serving in multiple roles including Promotions Coordinator, Social Media Manager, and in-game Public Address Announcer at Hank Aaron Stadium. The BayBears were a Double-A Minor League affiliate of Major League Baseball (MLB) organizations including the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres, and Los Angeles Angels during his tenure.

A native of New London, Connecticut, Haney spent most of his life in the Mobile, Alabama area. He is a graduate of Mary G. Montgomery High School in Semmes, Alabama, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice from the University of Mobile in 2016. During his time there, he also traveled extensively as a member of RamCorps, the university’s high-impact brass and percussion ensemble, performing both nationally and internationally.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Haney enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and following sports. He is an avid fan of Major League Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks. He also co-operates a family-run venture, H.I.S.S. (Haney’s Independent Snake Studies), alongside his father, Curt Haney. The organization focuses on the safe relocation, education, and rehabilitation of both venomous and non-venomous snakes.

Haney and his wife, Haley Ikner Haney, have a one-year-old daughter, Adaline Grace, and share their home with three cats: Moe, Mae, and Missy.
