BREWTON, Ala. – Coastal Alabama - South Women's Volleyball opened with a competitive start but ultimately fell to Coastal Alabama - North in four sets (18-25, 25-20, 16-25, 13-25) on Wednesday night, Oct. 8 in Brewton, Ala.. The Coyotes from the South campus managed to defeat Coastal - North in five sets earlier in the season, but dropped Wednesday's match after the northern Yotes took sets three and four. Coastal - South showed flashes of offensive potential and defensive grit in the defeat.
Match Highlights
Kameryn Browne led Coastal - South attack with a team-high 10 kills on a strong .292 hitting percentage during the four-set matchup, while Elizabeth McMillan added six kills at a .385 clip and one service ace. Anna Musgrove ran the offense efficiently, tallying 19 assists and 14 digs while also contributing three kills. As a team, the Coyotes hit just .203 overall for the match.
The Coyotes showed strong balance across the front line as Wendy Reyes Duenas posted five kills, three aces, and a block assist, while Ella Kyker and Anique Self each chipped in multiple kills and digs. Defensively, Sophie Sanchez anchored the back row with a team-best 13 digs, and Gracie Duncan and Haley Bingert added valuable support to help limit Coastal - North's attack.
After taking the second set 25-20 to even the match 1-1, Coastal - South battled to regain momentum but couldn't withstand Coastal - North's strong serving and offensive pressure late. The team finished with 40 kills, 81 digs, and seven aces.
Home Match Friday
Coastal Alabama - South will look to regroup and build on the positives from Wednesday's performance as they return home for a massive conference matchup against Bishop State (Ala.). Friday's match in Bay Minette is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT and will be aired live on JockJive.com.
