Women's Tennis Competes at 2025 NJCAA National Championship Tournament

Yotes End 2025 Season with 16th-Place Finish at National Tournament

TYLER, Tex. - The Coastal Alabama South Women's Tennis team, led by head coach Kouri Allen, participated in the 2025 NJCAA D-I Women's Tennis National Championship Tournament from May 3-7, finishing the season by placing 16th with 11.5 points. The Coyotes end the 2025 campaign with a 12-14 overall record, finishing 7-2 in the ACCC Conference, and will remain in the top 25 of the final NJCAA Women's Tennis rankings.

Prior to the start of the national tournament, head coach Kouri Allen was named the ITA NJCAA Women's Tennis Coach of the Year and sophomore Mya Schaffer was awarded the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award. To read more on those honors, CLICK HERE.

National Tourney Highlights 
  • In flight three singles, Anna Beth Hill defeated Elgin C.C.'s (Ill.) Amelia Stoner 6-1, 6-0 in first-round action.
  • Julianne Legg also secured a first-round win, defeating Rylan Gulley of Southwest Illinois College 6-1, 6-0 in flight four singles action. 
  • After dropping her first-round match to Hinds C.C. (Miss.) in flight two singles play, Jescimiel Mabiongo won the following matches in flight two consolation: 8-5 v. Reine Akombo of Meridian C.C. (Miss.) and 8-5 v. Ilse Smaalders of Pratt C.C. (Kan.).
  • Halee Harper also won two matches following a first-round defeat in flight five singles, winning 8-1 over Hailey Petersilie of Pratt Community College and 8-4 v. Meg Daves of Northwest Mississippi C.C
  • In doubles play, Coastal South's No. 1 duo of Emily Grubach and Jescimiel Mabiongo fell in the first round to St. Petersburg College (Fla.), but bounced back with an 8-2 consolation victory over McHenry County College (Ill.). The pair then went on to win 8-5 over University of South Carolina - Sumter 8-5 in flight one doubles consolation.
