Coastal Alabama - South Women's Tennis Places Fifth Nationally at NJCAA Division II Nationals

Coyotes Secure Top-Five Placement at NJCAA D-II Women's Tennis National Championship Tournament

SUMTER, S.C. - The Coastal Alabama - South Women's Tennis program, led by head coach Kouri Allen, turned in a historic performance this week, finishing fifth overall out of 21 teams at the 2026 NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament in Sumter, S.C. The fifth-place finish marks the best national finish in program history at the NJCAA Division II level.

The Coyotes totaled 29.5 points during the national tournament, finishing behind only national champion Jones College (48 points), Wallace State - Hanceville Community College (39), Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (31), and Copiah-Lincoln Community College (31). Fellow ACCC member Bevill State Community College (Ala.) also represented the conference with a ninth-place national finish.

Highlighting the week for Coastal Alabama was a milestone achievement from Hannah Stenger, who advanced all the way to the championship finals in flight five singles to earn NJCAA All-America honors, becoming the first NJCAA All-American recognition in program history for Coastal Alabama - South Women's Tennis.

The Coyotes also saw a strong run from the flight one doubles team of Jescimiel Mabiongo and Neda Kocyte. After suffering a hard-fought second-round loss by scores of 5-7, 6-7, the duo responded by dominating the consolation bracket. Mabiongo and Kocyte earned victories over College of Lake County (8-1), Sauk Valley Community College (8-0), and Illinois Valley Community College (8-0) to capture the fllight one doubles consolation title.

The national finish caps off another remarkable season for the Coyotes, with the 'Yotes finishing the year ranked No. 11 in the latest ITA NJCAA Women's Tennis Rankings, while finishing 17-8 overall on the season and 10-2 in the ACCC. Coastal Alabama - South competed at the NJCAA Division I level over the previous two seasons, placing 11th nationally two years ago and 16th nationally last season before returning to Division II competition in 2026.

With a historic finish, the program continues to establish itself among the nation's top junior college tennis programs while setting a new standard for future Coyotes teams.
