Coastal Alabama - South Tennis Teams Roll to Victories on Opening Day

Yotes Dominate to Begin 2026 Campaign in Millbrook

MILLBROOK, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - South Men's and Women's Tennis teams, led by fifth-year head coach Kouri Allen, opened the 2026 season with statement victories on the road in Millbrook, Ala. on Jan. 30, with both teams defeating Central Alabama CC 9-0 to begin the year 1-0.

On the men's side, David Gimenez and Alvaro Velasco combined as Coastal - South's top duo in doubles action, winning 8-1, while the Coyotes' second-seeded pair of Julien Cordeau and Nils Guyot and third flight of Enzo Loots and Milan Olganon earned shutouts, 8-0. Cordeau later earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory as the 'Yotes' top-seeded singles player in the season opener. Meanwhile, Gimenez and Guyot cruised to 6-0, 6-0 wins. Overall, the men's team did not drop a set in singles play.

For the women's team at Coastal - South, Nadja Walter and Amber Langendries teamed up as the top pair and earned an 8-2 victory. From No. 2 doubles, Hannah Stenger and Janne Schuurmans cruised to an 8-0 shutout, while the Coyotes earned a forfeit win from the third flight. Singles play was much of the same as the 'Yotes won each set played, highlighted by Teah Johnson with a 6-0, 6-1 win and Neda Kocyte with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

It was a dominant start to the 2026 campaign for both squads as both teams begin the year ranked inside the top 25 of the ITA NJCAA Tennis Rankings.

Battle of the Coyotes

Coastal Alabama - South returns to action on the road against Counterpart Coastal Alabama - North next on the schedule, coming on Monday, Feb. 2 in Monroeville, Ala. Monday's action is a scheduled doubleheader for both teams, with start times set for 10:00 a.m. CT and 2:00 p.m. CT.
