STANLEY JAMES FIELD | BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - South Baseball team delivered another statement performance Saturday afternoon, Feb. 14 at Stanley James Field, defeating Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 13-3 in seven innings to complete a two-game sweep over the previously unbeaten Bulldogs in the home-and-home series.
After handing Mississippi Gulf Coast its first loss of the season earlier in the week on the road, the Coyotes wasted little time asserting control in the rematch on Saturday. Coastal - South erupted for six runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back, adding three runs in the fourth and four more in the seventh to seal the run-rule victory in Bay Minette.
The overall record improves to 7-4 on the young 2026 campaign for the 'Yotes.
Game Highlights
The Coyotes finished with 10 hits and drew 10 walks in the strong winning performance, putting constant pressure on the Bulldogs' pitching staff. Brooks Womble led the way at the top of the order, going 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base. Meanwhile, Clayton Kimball provided a big swing with a two-run home run to continue to pace the ACCC Division I in homers (6) and RBIs (20) during the season.
Jeffrey Diaz added two RBI, two walks, and two stolen bases, while Derek Jelen recorded two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Catcher Dylan Taft chipped in two hits and an RBI, and Noah Eady powered the offense with his first home run of the season and three RBI. The Coyotes totaled four extra-base hits and four stolen bases in the win.
On the mound, Coastal - South held Mississippi Gulf Coast to just five hits and three runs over seven innings. Grant Breaux earned the start, allowing one run over three innings with three strikeouts. Andrew Hicks followed with two innings of relief, and Spencer Nicholas closed out the final two frames to help the 'Yotes secure the win.
With the 13-3 victory, Coastal Alabama - South outscored Mississippi Gulf Coast 30-11 across the two-game set, completing the sweep and building significant momentum as the season continues.
Rematch with Northwest Florida Ahead
The Coyotes are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18 with a road matchup against No. 20 Northwest Florida State College. Wednesday's meeting is the second of the season with the Raiders as Northwest Florida State managed a 21-8 win over Coastal - South back on Feb. 3 in Bay Minette.
First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. CT in Niceville, Fla.
