GADSDEN, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - South Women's Volleyball team faced a pair of ACCC opponents on consecutive days, dropping 3-0 decisions on the road at Bishop State (Ala.) and Gadsden State (Ala.) on Aug. 27 and 28. The overall record falls to 1-3 this season, with the Coyotes dropping three consecutive matches via the sweep.
The 'Yotes opened the weekend on Thursday against Bishop State in Mobile, Ala., falling 25-17, 25-19 and 25-11. Coastal - South battled throughout the opening two sets but was unable to overcome Bishop State's offensive attack.
Chloe Collison led the Coyotes with five kills and added two block assists, while Ella Kyker contributed three kills and four block assists. Anna Musgrove recorded eight assists and eight digs, flirting with a double-double in the loss. On the back row, Kaylee Worrell paced the defensive effort with nine digs.
As a team, the 'Yotes finished with just 17 kills and eight blocks against Bishop State. The Coyotes also recorded 30 digs in the three-set defeat.
The Coyotes returned to action the next day, traveling to Gadsden, Ala. for another three-set match. The Coyotes fell 25-15, 25-17 and 25-9 to the Cardinals of Gadsden State in a non-divisional conference matchup.
Anna Musgrove directed the offense with 12 assists while also contributing two kills, two service aces and three digs. Ella Kyker finished with two kills and three total blocks, while Lyric Thompson added two kills and three block assists. Zion Paden recorded two kills, five digs and two block assists.
The Coyotes totaled a season-low 12 kills and five total blocks against Gadsden State while collecting 31 digs defensively.
