BREWTON, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Volleyball fell to Coastal Alabama - North, 3-0, Wednesday evening, Sept. 16 in Brewton as the two programs met for the first of two regular-season matchups during the 2026 season.
The Sept. 16 contest also marked the first matchup of the "Yotes Series," a Coastal Alabama Athletics initiative featuring head-to-head competition between the North and South campuses across different sports.
Coastal vs. Coastal
Coastal - South battled throughout the match but ultimately fell by set scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-19.
The Coastal - South offense finished with 19 kills on 85 attacks, hitting .059 for the match. Elizabeth McMillan led the way offensively with eight kills on 15 attempts while committing just one error for a .467 hitting percentage. Wendy Reyes Duenas added three kills on 10 attempts, while Anique Self and Daeya Williams each recorded two kills.
Anna Musgrove directed the Coastal - South offense with 13 assists, while Reyes Duenas contributed three assists. Coastal - South finished with 17 total assists as a team.
Defensively, Kaylee Worrell led the South Coyotes with 10 digs. Musgrove and Reyes Duenas each added eight digs, while Mariah Mayes recorded three. Coastal - South totaled 42 digs in the match.
South also recorded three service aces, with Anique Self accounting for two and Zion Paden adding one. At the net, Coastal - South finished with four block assists and two total blocks.
Meanwhile, Coastal - North finished the match with 33 kills and a .204 hitting percentage, while its 18 service aces and 16 total blocks helped the home team secure the sweep.
Despite the loss, Coastal - South's performance included a standout night from McMillan, who accounted for eight of the team's 19 kills while producing the team's highest individual hitting percentage.
Yotes Series Rolls On
The two Coastal Alabama programs will meet again Oct. 12, when Coastal - North travels to Coastal - South in Bay Minette for the second regular-season matchup of the season and the next chapter of the "Yotes Series."
