Assistant Men's Basketball Coach, Jacob Champion, returned to Bay Minette in 2022 after previously serving as the assistant coach at Huntingdon College. Champion has 4 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, all of which were at his two alma maters. In his four seasons so far, he has been blessed to help coach:

• 2 All-Americans
• 2 Conference Player of the Year selections
• 5 All-Conference selections
• 2 All-Sportsmanship selections
• 12x Player of the Week honors

Throughout his coaching career, Champion has also been trusted with the responsibilities of: 

• Serving as recruiting coordinator, academic guide to athletes, and social media coordinator
• Leading men's basketball team strength and conditioning process
• Organizing men's basketball operations, scouting reports, offensive efficiency spreadsheets
• Assisting with high school team camps, prospect camps, youth camps, and fundraising activities

Champion played basketball collegiality at Coastal Alabama–South (2016-18) and Huntingdon College (2018-20), where he competed in the post-season conference tournament each time throughout his career, including one conference championship appearance. His senior season he also was selected to the All-Tournament & All-Sportsmanship teams.

Coach Champion holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Huntingdon College, as well as an Associate in Science and an Associate in Arts degree from Coastal Alabama Community College.
