Ritchie Dulaney

A veteran head coach of 36 seasons, six years at the University of South Alabama and 31 years in Bay Minette, Dr. Ritchie Dulaney has guided the volleyball team to 463 wins and 376 losses during her time with Coastal Alabama Community College.

Coach Dulaney is a local native and graduate of McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, where her volleyball team won the state title three out of four years. She was also a member of the tennis team, the basketball team - winning two state titles, and the track team - winning one state title. After high school, Dulaney went on to play volleyball at the University of Missouri, where she was a member of the Big 8 All-Conference team in 1981, 1983, and 1985. In 1983, the University of Missouri was also ranked 15th in the country and in 1982 she was named Phi Sigma Theta Female Athlete of the Year.

Her first coaching job was at the University of South Alabama where she was named Coach of the Year for the Sun Belt Conference in 1987. Since then, she has been named NJCAA Region 22 / ACCC Coach of the Year three times, winning in 2010, 2012, and 2013. Furthermore, she was named NJCAA District P Coach of the Year in 2012 as her team finished 27-9 and finished as the ACCC runner-ups. The 2012 season marked the first appearance by Faulkner State CC (now Coastal Alabama CC in Bay Minette) in the NJCAA National Tournament. In addition to her role as Head Volleyball Coach, she served as the Men's and Women's Tennis Coach for 27 years. The men's team had three national appearances while under her leadership.

Coach Dulaney has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a master’s degree from the University of South Alabama, and a doctorate degree from the University of Nova Southeastern. She is also currently serving as the chairperson of the Health and Physical Education Department."
