BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) announced the ACCC Division IÂ Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 11, with Coastal Alabama South Men's Tennis seeing Lucas Van Splunteren earning the honor.
Van Splunteren helped guide the Coyotes to a strong 3-1 week last week, collecting three shutouts in the process. Two of Coastal South's three wins came in conference play. The Coyotes' lone loss on the week came against NCAA Division I program Troy University (Ala.).
For the freshman Van Splunteren, he partnered with Enzo Loots in doubles play to start the week with a win over Marion Military (Ala.), earning an 8-1 victory in the process. The duo followed that with an 8-2 victory over Gadsden State (Ala.) and a 6-1 win over Doane University (Neb.) to wrap up the four-match week. In singles play, Van Splunteren defeated all three teams, highlighted by 6-3, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1 wins over Marion Military and Gadsden State.
Coastal Alabama South's next match is scheduled for Saturday, March 15Â in Daphne, Ala. as the Coyotes face Wallace State - Hanceville (Ala.) at 10:00 a.m. CT. Saturday's match is a conference match in the ACCC and will be played at Lott Park, weather permitting.Â
