WISE, Va. - Coastal Alabama - South Men's Tennis delivered a statement win on the court on Sunday, Mar. 22, rallying for a thrilling 4-3 upset over NCAA Division II opponent University of Virginia - Wise on the road. Sunday's match began a stretch of three consecutive road matches against non-NJCAA opponents for the Coyotes from Mar. 22-24.

The Coyotes were resilient throughout the match against Virginia - Wise, overcoming an early setback after dropping the doubles point to fall behind, 1-0.
Coastal quickly responded in singles play, beginning with Milan Olagnon, who put the Coyotes on the board with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles. Julien Cordeau followed with an impressive comeback win at the top singles position, giving Coastal a 2-1 edge in singles and evening the overall match score at, 2-2.
Virginia - Wise briefly regained control, earning a win at No. 6 singles to take a 3-2 lead and put the Coyotes on the brink. With the match hanging in the balance, Alvaro Velasco delivered under pressure, securing a win at No. 4 singles to tie the match at 3-3 and set the stage for a decisive final contest.
All eyes turned to the final singles match, where Nils Guyot battled in a back-and-forth showdown. He edged the opening set in a tightly contested tiebreaker, 7-6, before Virginia - Wise answered with a 6-2 second-set win to force a decisive third set.
In the final frame, Guyot rose to the occasion, fighting through a competitive set and ultimately closing out the match with a 6-4 victory, clinching the 4-3 upset win for Coastal Alabama - South, marking one of the largest wins in program history.
The victory marks a significant result for the Coyotes, showcasing ability to compete — and win — against four-year competition.
The overall record improved to 15-8 on the year for the 'Yotes, who currently rank No. 11 in the latest ITA NJCAA Top 25 Rankings.
