Coyotes Drop Two Over the Weekend; Splits Four-Game Series with Wallace State - Hanceville

Coastal South Baseball Splits Weekend Series with Hanceville Lions

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Coastal Alabama South Baseball came up short in a doubleheader against Wallace State - Hanceville on Saturday, April 26, falling 2-1 in game one and 7-3 in game two. The overall record drops to 27-21 following the two losses, while the ACCC record falls to 22-10. The Coyotes currently sit in third place in the ACCC D-I Baseball standings. 

Game 1 Recap – Wallace State 2, Coastal Alabama South 1

Despite a strong showing on the mound, Coastal Alabama South struggled to generate offense to overcome Wallace State in a tight opener. Starter Spencer Nicholas pitched 4.2 innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts, while Talan Tourelle added 1.1 scoreless innings in relief.

The lone bright spot on offense came from freshman Kennedy Leggett, who launched a solo home run and added a double, accounting for the team's only run and two of the Coyotes' nine hits. Coastal South out-hit Wallace 9-6, but stranded several runners and failed to capitalize on key opportunities. Wallace State scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the win.
 

Game 2 Recap – Wallace State 7, Coastal Alabama South 3

In game two, the Coyotes' offense showed more pop with home runs from Caden Mason and Kennedy Leggett, who each drove in a run. Leggett finished the day with two homers and three extra-base hits against Wallace State, while Mason had a perfect day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a walk and a solo homer.

On the mound, Garrett Milbourn started and allowed five runs (all earned) on eight hits in six innings, taking the loss. Relievers Cole Arnett and Tyler Zawacki combined for two innings, but Wallace State pulled away with a three-run seventh and added three home runs total in the game. The Lions out-hit Coastal South 10-5 in the game two victory.


Four Games Remain

The Coyotes are set to begin the final four-game series of the regular season on Thursday, May 1, facing Gadsden State (Ala.) in a doubleheader on the road. Thursday's DH is set for 1:00 p.m. CT.

Both teams will then face off for an additional doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, May 3 in Bay Minette, Ala. to close out the regular season portion of the schedule. Saturday's action is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcasted live on JockJive Sports.
