Softball Concludes Regular Season with Four-Game Sweep; Set for ACCC Tournament This Week

Coastal Alabama South Softball Cruises Past Gadsden State to End Regular Season with Four Consecutive Wins

BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama South Softball team wrapped up the regular season portion of the 2025 campaign on Thursday afternoon, May 1, sweeping Gadsden State (Ala.) across a four-game series played from April 30 - May 1. All four games were played in Bay Minette, Ala. as the Coyotes managed three run-rule victories and a shutout over the Cardinals at home.

The four wins for the Yotes clinches Coastal South a spot at the ACCC D-I Softball Championship Tournament set for May 8-10 in Alabaster, Ala. The Coyotes will enter the postseason with a 36-22 overall record and 18-14 conference record, riding a four-game win streak. 

Series Highlights

Coastal South managed two run-rule wins in six innings over Gadsden State to begin the final series of the regular season on Wednesday evening, defeating the Cardinals 9-1 in game one and 12-3 in game two. In the first game, the Coyotes relied on big performances from Gabby Miller, Brianna Ryan, and Sydni Carpenter, with the three combining for seven of Coastal South's eight hits in the win and driving in seven runs.

Gabby Miller finished 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's first game. Meanwhile, Brianna Ryan came away with four RBIs off a 2-for-3 line at the dish, followed by Sydni Carpenter with a 1-for-3 performance, a homer, and three RBIs. From the pitcher's circle, Anna Griggs earned the victory with four solid innings of work, allowing just one hit and no runs. She struck out three. Gadsden State finished game one with just four hits. 

In Wednesday's nightcap, the Coyotes' offense continued to roll. Coastal South totaled 12 runs off nine hits, while holding the Cardinals to just three runs off seven hits. Brianna Ryan recorded another big performance at the plate, driving in three runs. Taylor Hunt followed with a 2-for-3 batting line, recording two walks, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Gabby Miller also picked up two RBIs, finishing 1-for-4. Coastal South's 1-2-3 players in the lineup combined for seven RBIs in the blowout win.

The next day, Lauren Mounce highlighted the third game of the series, pitching a complete-game shutout from the circle for the Yotes. Mounce allowed just four hits in Coastal South's 5-0 win to begin Thursday's action, while striking out four batters. Mounce faced 27 Cardinals and tossed 104 pitches. On the offensive side, Gabby Miller continued her strong series finishing 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored. Brianna Ryan also recorded multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Sydni Carpenter launched her second home run of the series, a three-run shot, over the Coastal Alabama scoreboard. 

In the series and 2025 regular season finale, the Coyotes rolled to a 14-4 victory, with Carpenter connecting with her third home run of the series and second of the day. Carpenter finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs in the final game against Gadsden State, with her homer being another three-run bomb. Carpenter finishes the regular season with a team-high 17 home runs during the 2025 season, third-most in the ACCC. 

Brianna Ryan picked up three more RBIs in the 10-run win after going 2-for-3, giving her 10 runs driven in during the series. Gabby Miller produced yet another perfect game at the plate, tallying a 3-for-3 mark and giving her a team-best 11 hits across the four games played. Kailin Parker joined Carpenter with a home run in the finale, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs driven in. On the rubber, three pitchers were used in the five-inning game, with Anna Griggs earning the start and the win. Griggs finished with three innings of work, allowing just three hits and two unearned runs. She struck out five. 

ACCC D-I Softball Championship

The ACCC D-I Softball Championship Tournament is set for May 8-10 in Alabaster, Ala., with the Coyotes earning the No. 4 seed in the six-team field. Opponents and times are currently TBA by the ACCC and all games will be played at Veterans Park in Alabaster.
