PERKINSTON, Miss. – Coastal Alabama - South Women's Volleyball dropped the first road match of the 2025 season on Monday evening, Aug. 25, falling in four sets to Mississippi Gulf Coast, 20-25, 18-25, 25-16, 19-25. The loss to the Bulldogs is the second in three matches played on the young season, with the Coyotes falling in four sets at home to MGCCC in the season opener just last weekend. Coastal South is now 1-2 during the 2025 campaign.
Despite dropping the first two sets of the night, the Yotes found rhythm in the third set, hitting .200 as a team and grabbing momentum with a 25-16 win to extend the match. However, Mississippi Gulf Coast closed strong in the fourth set to secure the home victory.
Mariah Mayes led Coastal South's offense with 10 kills while adding 15 digs and two blocks for a double-double performance. Chloe Collison followed with seven kills, three aces, and two blocks, while freshman Ella Kyker provided a strong presence at the net with four block assists and six kills. Setter Anna Musgrove tallied 20 assists and five digs, and libero Sophie Sanchez anchored the back row with 10 digs. Anique Self chipped in eight digs and three aces from the service line. As a team, the Coyotes finished Monday's performance hitting .065 across the four sets played, tallying 53 digs and 12 service aces.
ACCC Matchup Ahead
Coastal Alabama - South continues its early-season road stretch on Wednesday, Aug. 27, traveling to Mobile, Ala. for a conference match against Bishop State Community College (Ala.) at 6:00 p.m. CT.
