Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – Coastal Alabama - South Women's Volleyball dropped its midweek match to Bishop State Community College (Ala.) in straight sets on Wednesday night, Aug. 27, falling 17-25, 22-25, 18-25 on the road in Mobile, Ala. The loss for the Yotes is the third in four matches played on the young season, with the overall record falling to 1-3. Additionally, Wednesday's match against Bishop State opened conference play in the ACCC Women's Volleyball South Division standings.
Despite showing fight throughout, Coastal South failed to overcome Bishop State's steady attack. Coastal was paced by Ella Kyker offensively, who tallied a team-high seven kills while hitting .267. Mariah Mayes added six kills and chipped in two service aces, and Chloe Collison posted five kills and two aces. Setter Maggie Shorter directed the offense with 17 assists, while Haley Bingert anchored the defense with a team-high five digs.
As a team, the Coyotes finished with 24 kills on 87 total attacks, good for a .092 team hitting percentage. The team collected 20 digs, 17 assists, and six blocks throughout the three sets played.
Weekend Tourney Awaits
Coastal Alabama - South is set for a four-match tournament next on the schedule, coming in Hanceville, Ala. on Aug. 29-30. The Yotes are set to face off with Cleveland State CC (Tenn.) and host-school Wallace State - Hanceville (Ala.) on Aug. 29, while wrapping up the tournament with matches against Georgia Highlands College and Lawson State CC (Ala.) the following day.
