DECATUR, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Women's Basketball dropped its third straight conference contest Thursday night, Jan. 22, falling 73-62 on the road to Calhoun Community College (Ala.) in north Alabama. With the loss, the Coyotes move to 12-5 overall and 0-3 to open conference play after beginning the season with a strong 12-2 non-conference mark.

Despite the setback, Shamiya Oliver turned in a dominant performance for Coastal - South. The sophomore forward poured in 27 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting from the floor and added 12 rebounds to record a double-double. Oliver also went 7-of-11 from the free-throw line and grabbed eight offensive boards to keep possessions alive for the Coyotes.
Kalaysia Robinson added 10 points and nine rebounds, while Tyra Caves chipped in six points. Laila Young and Shakira Williams each contributed four points off the bench, and the Coyotes finished with 41 total rebounds as a team. Coastal - South shot 44.2% from the field but struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 1-of-9 attempts (11.1%). Free-throw shooting also proved costly, as the Coyotes went 15-of-24 from the line.
Meanwhile, Calhoun was led by Kamora Simpson's 21 points, while Gabrielle Stigger added 16 points and six steals. The Warhawks capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 28-of-44 attempts, and forced 23 Coastal - South turnovers that led to key scoring opportunities down the stretch.
