JACK ROBERTSON ARENA | BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Men's Basketball fell to conference rival Bishop State (Ala.) 103-84, on Homecoming night inside Jack Robertson Arena on Monday, Jan. 26. Despite a standout performance from Josh Williams, the ACCC's current top scores this season, the Coyotes were unable to keep pace with a high-powered Wildcats offense that shot 46.9% from the floor and 44.4% from three-point range.
Williams Continues Strong Season Despite Loss
Josh Williams turned in one of his strongest outings of the season against Bishop State, finishing with a game-high 31 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including 6-of-10 from beyond the arc for three. His 31-point performance put him just one point shy of matching his season-high on the year. Williams added 11 rebounds to secure a double-double in the loss, along with three steals and a block in 35 minutes of action.
Makhi Jones also recorded a double-double for Coastal - South, scoring 22 points while going 10-of-12 at the free-throw line and pulling down 15 rebounds. Meanwhile, Tyler Rivers contributed 10 rebounds off the bench, helping the 'Yotes win the battle on the glass, 52-36, including 21 offensive boards.
The two teams traded runs in the opening half, but Bishop State's offensive balance proved to be the difference. Tahsheim Gary led the Wildcats with 28 points, knocking down six three-pointers while adding nine rebounds, nine assists and seven steals in an all-around performance. Jeremiah Sem added 24 points, and Patrick Olajuwon chipped in 15 points and eight rebounds.
Bishop State finished with 23 assists and forced 21 Coastal - South turnovers, turning those extra possessions into key scoring opportunities that allowed the Wildcats to gradually extend the lead.
Coastal Alabama - South shot 40.6% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range, while converting 24-of-32 from the free-throw line.
Headed to Hanceville
The Coyotes will look to regroup as conference play continues in the ACCC, with Coastal - South matching up with Wallace State - Hanceville (Ala.) on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. CT. Thursday's game will be played in Hanceville, Ala.
