TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Women's Basketball faced a tough test Thursday night, Feb. 5, falling 101-53 on the road to No. 6 Shelton State in ACCC conference action. The loss drops the Coyotes' overall record to 14-7 on the season, with the ACCC record falling to 2-5.

Tyra Caves paced the Coyotes offensively, pouring in a team-high 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Kennedy Gill added 10 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting, while Naomi Whack chipped in three points on a perfect 1-of-2 effort from the floor and 1-of-2 from three-point range.
As a team, Coastal Alabama - South shot 35 percent (21-of-60) from the field and 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from three-point range. The Coyotes were 5-of-12 (41.7 percent) at the free-throw line and finished with 29 total rebounds, six assists, six steals, and five blocks.
Shamiya Oliver led the team on the glass with six rebounds to go along with five points and two blocks. Jordyn Henry added three rebounds and three points in seven minutes, while Shakira Williams contributed five points and three boards. Baileigh Lett recorded two steals and a block defensively.
Shelton State showcased why it is ranked among the nation's best, shooting 50.7 percent (37-of-73) from the floor and 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from long range. The Bucs also controlled the boards, outrebounding the Coyotes 51-29, including 19 offensive rebounds that led to second-chance opportunities. The Bucs opened the game with 37 points alone through the first quarter.
Turnovers haunted Coastal - South on Thursday as the Coyotes committed 21 turnovers, while Shelton State totaled 16 steals and 19 assists in the contest.
Non-Divisional Game in the ACCC Ahead
The 'Yotes will look to regroup as Coastal - South returns to non-conference action with a matchup against ACCC Division II's Wallace - Selma (Ala.) next on the schedule, set for Monday night, Feb. 9 in Selma, Ala. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT.
