DECATUR, Miss. - Coastal Alabama - South Baseball earned a split on the road Friday evening, Feb. 6, falling 9-8 to St. Johns River College (Fla.) before bouncing back with a 16-7 win over East Central Community College (Miss.). The split moves the overall record on the season to 5-3.
Doubleheader Highlights
In the opener against St. Johns River, the Coyotes rallied late but came up just short in a back-and-forth contest.
Coastal struck first with two runs in the opening inning and added two more in the fourth before plating four in the seventh to pull within one. Grayson Roberson paced the offense, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Meanwhile, London Prashad drove in two runs and swiped a base, while Derek Jelen, Kennedy Leggett and Brooks Womble each recorded doubles in the loss.
On the mound, Spencer Nicholas worked three innings with three strikeouts. Trevor Ferris added five strikeouts over two innings of relief. St. Johns River used three home runs to hold off Coastal's late push.
The 'Yotes responded in a big way in game two, erupting for 16 runs on 18 hits in a decisive win over home school East Central. Coastal - South broke the game wide open with an 11-run second inning and never looked back. Kennedy Leggett led the offensive surge with a 3-for-5 performance and three runs scored. Aiden Hughes delivered a huge day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored, while Grayson Roberson homered and drove in three. Roberson now paces the Coyotes with three long balls on the season.
Brooks Womble also went deep in the nightcap, adding two RBIs, and Noah Eady contributed two hits and two RBIs. London Prashad and Jeffrey Diaz each collected two hits, with Diaz adding a double and a stolen base.
On the mound, Seth Payne earned the win in relief, striking out three over 1.2 innings. Reigning ACCC D-I Pitcher of the Week Bryson Morman made the start, and Andrew Hicks and Coleman Capaci combined to close out the final four innings as Coastal secured the split to close out the road trip.

Coastal - South is set for just the second home game of the season next on the schedule with eight games completed on the young 2026 campaign, coming on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 1:00 p.m. CT. The Coyotes will host Pearl River (Miss.) on Tuesday, looking for revenge following a the season-opening shutout on the road against the Wildcats just two weeks ago.Â
