JACK ROBERTSON ARENA - BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - South Women's Basketball team continued its impressive start to the 2025-26 season on Monday, Nov. 10, blowing past Wallace Community College - Selma (Ala.) 71-53 in the first game played at home on the year. The win improves the overall record to 4-0 under head coach Cedric Yelding, with the Coyotes set for an additional home game next week following a short break.
Big First Quarter Sets Tone
Coastal - South began the home opener in dominating fashion over the Patriots, outscoring Wallace - Selma 23-8 through the first 10 minutes of the game. The Yotes then added 16 more points in the second quarter, taking a massive 39-22 advantage to halftime. In the second half, Coastal - South added 16 more points across both the third and fourth quarters, eventually sealing the 18-point victory.
Brooklyn Phillips and Tyra Caves paced the offense against Wallace - Selma, with both players scoring 15 points each. Phillips knocked down three of four three-point attempts, while finishing a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line and adding four rebounds. Caves paced the team with five made shots from the floor, while collecting three assists, two rebounds, and one steal.
Other contributors came from off the bench as Shakira Williams managed nine points and Kennedy Gill recorded seven points. In total, 14 of the 15 Coyotes to touch the floor on Monday managed at least one point in the victory. As a team, Coastal - South finished with a 34.8% shooting line, making 16-of-21 free throw attempts. Wallace - Selma won the rebound battle 34-30 over the Yotes, but turned the ball over 20 times.
Week Off Before Next Contest
Coastal - South is now set for a 10-day break before the next game on the schedule, coming against Mississippi Gulf Coast at home on Thursday, Nov. 20. Next Thursday's game will be played in Jack Robertson Arena on the Bay Minette campus as the Coyotes look to improve to 5-0 on the season. The game will be broadcasted live on JockJive.com.
