JACK ROBERTSON ARENA | BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Women's Basketball edged Coastal Alabama - North 63-60 in the second and final meeting between the two programs of the 2025-26 season on Monday evening, Dec. 15, with Coastal - South sweeping the series across two games played. The two teams opened the 2025-26 campaign against one another back on Nov. 1 in Monroeville, Ala, with Coastal - South winning, 83-66.
On Monday in Bay Minette, Coastal - South secured a three-point win, surviving a second-half push, to earn the victory and improve the overall record to 7-2 this year.
Shamiya Oliver, Kalaysia Robinson Lead the Way with Double-Doubles
After a slow start offensively for both sides, Coastal - South eventually built a seven-point halftime advantage after taking the first two quarters, 18-14 and 20-16, to lead 38-30 at the break. Coastal - North responded in the second half, trimming the deficit behind an 18-point fourth quarter, but the comeback fell just short as Coastal - South made enough plays down the stretch to secure the win.
Shamiya Oliver led Coastal Alabama - South with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four steals, picking up her second double-double of the year, while Kalaysia Robinson picked up her first double-double of the season with a 12-point, 11-rebound performance. Shakira Williams added 13 points from off the bench, making clutch shots throughout the night, and Brooklyn Phillips contributed eight points, four rebounds and four steals in the win. As a team, Coastal - South finished with a 33.9% field goal percentage, while making 18-of-30 free-throw attempts.
Meanwhile, Coastal Alabama - North was paced by Joy Minnifield, who scored a game-high 21 points from off the bench. Ariel Gilchrist recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, and Starr Pittman chipped in nine points off the bench.
Both teams were aggressive defensively, combining for 24 steals, while the game featured frequent trips to the free-throw line. Coastal - South finished with five blocks and forced 17 turnovers, helping preserve the narrow victory.
December Finale Ahead
The Coyotes of Coastal - South are set for one final game during the month of December, scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 17 against winless Enterprise State (Ala.) at home. Wednesday's game is set for 5:30 p.m. CT and will be aired live on JockJive.com.
Following Wednesday's action, Coastal Alabama - South Women's Basketball will return after the Christmas break on Jan. 5 at Reid State Tech (Ala.).
