DENTON, Tex. - Coastal Alabama North and South Athletic Director Daniel Head was honored at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) last week, being awarded for five years of service on April 17. Head, who was officially named Coastal Alabama AD in October of 2020, has served as the NJCAA Assistant Men's Region 22 (Ala.) Director since 2020. He transitioned into the role of AD at Coastal Alabama having served as Director of Athletics at the Coastal Alabama Community College campus in Monroeville, Ala. since 2011 and Head Baseball Coach since 2008.
Additionally, Head currently serves on the NJCAA D-I Baseball and Tennis committees, while previously serving on the NJCAA D-II Oversight and Competitive Cheer committees. He has worked with numerous community organizations throughout his career to help serve local communities such as Rotary clubs, Chambers of Commerce, Kiwanis clubs, Veteran's Homes, Toys for Tots, and many more. Head also plays a part in many youth athletic leagues, along with local schools and educational groups.
Head's background with each community is very beneficial in helping to provide a strong level of leadership in the Monroeville, Bay Minette, and Brewton communities. In addition to his work experience as baseball coach in Monroeville, Head grew up and has lived and worked in the Bay Minette service area and is a former Brewton student-athlete and assistant baseball coach.
Head was integral in helping lead the athletic department through a rebranding and departmental realignment in 2023. The rebranding helped unify three previous mascot brands to establish the new, award winning "Coyote" mascot brand for all of the Coastal Alabama athletic programs. During the realignment, he oversaw the effort to combine the Monroeville and Brewton athletic programs into what is now the Coastal Alabama North Coyotes competing at the NJCAA Division II level along with the Bay Minette athletic programs with what is now the Coastal Alabama South Coyotes competing at the NJCAA Division I level. Coastal Alabama Community College sponsors 21 total athletic programs over three campuses and communities.
Head is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), National Alliance of Two Year Collegiate Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA), American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), and Alabama Baseball Coaches Association (ALaBCA).
