BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama Community College has seen two men's basketball standouts recently sign with NCAA Division 1 programs during the men's basketball signing period, with Stephen Williams of Coastal Alabama South signing with the University of South Alabama and Deondrian Washington from Coastal Alabama North signing with the University of North Alabama. Both players finished the 2024-25 season as ACCC All-Conference selections.Â
Stephen Williams Joins South Alabama
Stephen Williams signed with the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Ala. on April 16 after finishing the 2024-25 campaign as a second-team all-conference selection in the ACCC. He was the lone Coyote to earn all-conference nods for ACCC D-I Men's Basketball.Â
Williams, an Atmore, Ala. native, joins the South Alabama Jaguars after his freshman season at Coastal South, where he averaged 16.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and two blocks per game. The 6'9 forward recorded eight double-doubles on the season and managed to finish with double-digit point totals 20 times during the season.
"Stephen is a major addition to our program," South Alabama Head Coach Richie Riley said. "Not only because he's going to be a big-time player but the type of person he is every day. His ability to be a dominant presence inside is something we've not had here in a while. There truly is no ceiling for him and I'm pumped to have him in our family."
South Alabama finished the 2024-25 season 21-11 overall and 13-5 in the Sun Belt Conference (SBC).
