How It Happened

Pensacola State used a strong first half to build a commanding 36-19 lead at halftime before the Coyotes battled back in the second half, outscoring the Pirates 29-27 down the stretch. Despite a more aggressive offensive approach and improved rebounding effort after the halftime break, the early deficit proved too much to overcome for the Coyotes. 

Josh Williams led the Coyotes with 19 points and five rebounds, hitting a pair of threes and going 5-for-7 from the free-throw line. Makhi Jones added seven points and four rebounds, while AJ Thompson came off the bench to score six points and pull down seven boards. Tyler Rivers anchored the interior with 10 rebounds, including four on the offensive end, while Jacob Evans provided an efficient spark with four points and two steals in 25 minutes of play.

Coastal Alabama - South shot just 32.7% from the field (17-for-52) and struggled from deep with just a 12.5% shooting line from three-point range (3-for-24), while connecting on 55% of its free throws (11-for-20). The Coyotes recorded 32 total rebounds and nine assists as a team.

Headed to Monroeville for Coastal Versus Coastal

The Coyotes will look to bounce back on Thursday as they continue their early non-conference slate on the road before returning home next week to Bay Minette. Coastal - South is set to face Coastal - North on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. CT in the Cooper Center on the Monroeville campus. Thursday's game will be broadcasted live on JockJive.com.
