BAY MINETTE, Ala. – Coastal Alabama - South Women's Volleyball turned in a strong performance Monday evening, Sept. 22, sweeping Wallace - Selma (Ala.) 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 29-27) inside Jack Robertson Arena in Bay Minette, Ala. The win snaps a small two-match losing skid for the Coyotes, with the overall record improving to 6-13 on the season. Additionally, the ACCC record moves to 3-4 this year.
The Highlights
The Coyotes came out poised offensively, hitting an impressive .550 in the opening set and finishing the match with a .361 team attack percentage. Ella Kyker powered the offense once again with 13 kills on a .600 hitting clip, while Wendy Reyes Duenas added five kills and two service aces. For Kyker, the first-year Coyote leads Coastal - South with 182 kills on the season, averaging just under three kills per set. She is hitting .216 in 20 matches played.
Setter Anna Musgrove orchestrated the attack with 17 assists to go along with five aces. Maggie Shorter followed and contributed 11 assists, and Gracie Duncan chipped in three aces from the service line. Defensively, the Coyotes stayed sharp with 34 digs as a team, led by Harper Cooley (seven) and Anique Self (six).
Coastal Alabama - South closed out the night in dramatic fashion, edging the Patriots 29-27 in the third set to secure the sweep and energize the home crowd.
Home Stand Wraps Up Wednesday
After five consecutive home matches, the Coyotes wrap up the current home streak on Wednesday evening, Sept. 24. The Yotes return to action against United States Sports University (Ala.), with the match slated to start at 6:00 p.m. CT. The Coyotes swept USSU back on Aug. 23.
