BAY MINETTE, Ala. – The Coastal Alabama - South Women's Volleyball team put on a complete performance Wednesday night, Sept. 24, sweeping United States Sports University (Ala.) 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-14) for the Coyotes' second win in a row. The sweep over USSU is the second of the 2025 campaign, while the overall record improves to 7-13 on the year.
The Highlights
Coastal - South came out sharp in the opening set, using strong serving to set the tone. The Coyotes finished the match with an impressive 14 service aces, led by Anna Musgrove and Gracie Duncan with four apiece. Maggie Shorter added three more aces as USSU struggled to find answers against the pressure at the line.
On the attack, Ella Kyker led the charge with eight kills while swinging at a .500 clip. Wendy Reyes Duenas followed closely behind with six kills on .357 hitting, giving the Coyotes balance across the front row. As a team, Coastal - South finished with 25 kills on 69 attacks, good for a .261 hitting line on the night. The Yotes managed a match-high .400 mark in the opening frame and never trailed in the match, while controlling momentum from start to finish.
Anna Musgrove directed the offense with 15 assists while also contributing a team-high nine digs and a .333 hitting percentage on limited swings. Defensively, Coastal - South picked up 38 digs as a unit, with Gracie Duncan following Musgrove with six, helping keep United States Sports University out of rhythm.
With the sweep, Coastal Alabama-South adds another home victory to its record and continues to build confidence heading into a road trip against a conference opponent.
Six-Straight ACCC Matchups
The Coyotes are scheduled to return to action on Friday, Sept. 26, traveling to Fayette, Ala. for a conference showing against Bevill State (Ala.). Friday's match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. CT and is the first of six consecutive conference matches for Coastal - South.
