JACK ROBERTSON ARENA | BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Volleyball returned to the win column Tuesday night, Oct. 13, earning a 3-0 sweep over ACCC foe Reid State (Ala.) at home inside Jack Robertson Arena.
The Coyotes secured the victory by set scores of 25-14, 25-23 and 26-24, snapping a three-match losing streak and improving to 8-15 overall and 4-6 in ACCC South Division play.
Coastal - South established control early, cruising to a 25-14 victory in the opening set. Reid State responded with a tighter contest in the second, but the Coyotes held on for a 25-23 win to take a commanding 2-0 match lead.
The third set proved to be another competitive battle, with the 'Yotes closing out the sweep with a 26-24 victory to secure the conference win in straight sets.
Ella Kyker led the Coyotes offensively with 10 kills on 17 attacks, hitting .412 while adding a solo block. Wendy Reyes Duenas contributed four kills, a service ace, and nine digs, while Lyric Thompson added four kills and three digs.
Katie Hasting provided an efficient offensive spark, recording four kills on six attacks for a .667 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, Anna Musgrove once again orchestrated the offense with 34 assists and added three kills, nine digs and a service ace.
Defensively, Reyes Duenas and Musgrove paced the Coyotes with nine digs apiece. Libero Anna Claire Hilburn contributed eight digs, while McKenna Jackson recorded seven digs and a team-high three service aces. Coastal's second libero in Kaylee Worrell added six digs and a service ace.
The straight-set victory gives Coastal Alabama - South momentum as the Coyotes hit the road for a non-conference matchup ahead.
'Yotes Head to Biloxi
Coastal - South is scheduled to face Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College next on the schedule, coming on Friday, Oct. 16 at 4:00 p.m. CT. Friday's match will be played in Biloxi, Miss.
