MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Men's Golf closed out its 2025-26 campaign with a fourth-place team finish at the NJCAA Southeast District Championship, held at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala. on Apr. 20-21, as freshman Shane Burns led the way with an individual top-10 performance to qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament.
Under the direction of head coach Lee Huggins, the Coyotes delivered a steady three-round showing against a competitive district field, highlighted by Burns' eighth-place finish to punch his ticket to the NJCAA Division I Men's Golf National Championship Tournament. The national event is set for May 12-15 at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kansas.
Burns carded rounds of 75, 73, and 73 to finish with a three-day total of 221 (+5), securing the individual qualifying spot and extending his season to the national stage.
Judah Talley also turned in a strong performance, tying for 12th place with a 225 (+9) total. After opening rounds of 77 and 76, Talley surged with a final-round 72 to climb the leaderboard. His efforts this season earned him NJCAA All-District Team honors following the tournament.
Jake Christian posted a consistent finish for the Coyotes, tying for 21st with a 231 (+15), highlighted by back-to-back rounds of 73 and 75 after an opening 83. Jacob Myrick followed closely behind in a tie for 23rd at 232 (+16), recording rounds of 76, 81, and 75. Meanwhile, Landen Savage rounded out the Coastal Alabama lineup with a tie for 27th place, finishing at 234 (+18) with rounds of 74, 81, and 79.
With the fourth-place finish, Coastal Alabama -Â South concludes its season with continued progress and postseason recognition, while Burns will represent the Coyotes on the national stage later this spring.
