DOTHAN, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - South Men's Golf team, led by head coach Lee Huggins, opened the 2025-26 season last week at the Wallace Fall Kickoff Classic in Dothan, Ala., coming away with an eighth-place finish out of 17 team entrants to begin the year. Across the two day tournament, the Coyotes finished just 49 strokes above par in two rounds of play, scoring a 625 in the process. After round one alone, Coastal - South sat in fifth place before falling to eighth in round two.
First-year Coyote Jacob Myrick paced the Coyotes in the season opener, earning a top-20 finish in 20th overall out of 82 total players. Myrick finished just nine strokes above par with a 153 in his first tournament with Coastal Alabama, shooting +2 in round one alone. Landen Savage followed Myrick in 33rd overall, scoring a 157 (+13), while both Shane Burns and Judah Talley shot a 158 (+14) to tie for 36th. Talley managed to shoot a 77 in round one, while Burns shot a 77 in the second round. Jake Christian rounded out Coastal Alabama - South performances in the first tournament of the season, scoring a 163 (+19) and placing 49th overall.
The Yotes bested several notable ACCC teams at the Wallace Kickoff Classic, including Coastal Alabama - North, Southern Union (Ala.), Wallace State - Hanceville (Ala.), Enterprise State (Ala.), and Reid State (Ala.).
Back in Action Next Weekend
Coastal Alabama - South Men's Golf will return to action on Sept. 21-23 at the Chuck Kalanick Memorial in Union Grove, Ala. Next weekend's tournament will be played at the Cherokee Ridge Country Club and will be two rounds, with a practice round being set for Sunday.
