Coyotes Open Second Half with Road Win at Reid State

Women's Basketball Improves to 9-2 with Road Victory in Return to the Court

EVERGREEN, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Women's Basketball opened the second half of the 2025-26 season with a convincing road victory on Monday evening, Jan. 5, defeating Reid State Tech (Ala.) 78-46 in a non-divisional matchup. The two ACCC foes met for the first time during the season on Monday, with the Coyotes rolling across all four quarters of the game. Following Monday's action, the two teams are set to meet again later this week at Jack Robertson Arena in Bay Minette, Ala.

For Coastal - South, the 'Yotes improve to 9-2 overall on the season and have won five of the last six games, including three straight.

Coyotes Dominate Lions 

Coastal - South set the tone of the game early, jumping out to a 24-17 lead after the first quarter before tightening up defensively in the second. The Coyotes limited Reid State to just eight points in the second period, while adding 25 points to take a commanding 49-25 advantage into halftime. In the second half, Coastal - South managed a 15-10 third quarter advantage before ending the game with a 14-11 showing in the fourth. The big first half for the 'Yotes, particularly the second quarter, eventually sealed the 32-point victory.

Efficient perimeter shooting fueled the Coyotes' offensive performance, with Coastal - South knocking down a season-best 14 three-pointers in the win. The 'Yotes shot 56% from beyond the arc, creating consistent separation throughout the contest, and have coverted 24 made threes in each of the last two contests.

Brooklyn Phillips led all scorers with 21 points, connecting on five three-pointers while adding six rebounds. Tyra Caves followed by matching a season high with 18 points and six assists, also hitting five shots from long range. Meanwhile, Kalaysia Robinson delivered a strong all-around performance, leading all players with 14 rebounds and adding six points. From off the bench, Jordyn Henry totaled her best performance of the season with six points and four rebounds, while Naomi Whack recorded five points and two blocks.

Coastal - South finished the night with 21 assists on 28 made field goals, showcasing strong ball movement and offensive efficiency as the Coyotes finished the night with a 47.5 shooting percentage from the floor. Additionally, the 'Yotes tallied 11 steals, eight blocks, and managed a season-high 56 rebounds as a team. 

Non-Conference Play Continues

Following Monday's win, Coastal Alabama - South continues to build momentum with several non-conference games on tap before conference play begins in mid-January. The Coyotes will meet Reid State again on Thursday, Jan. 8 in Bay Minette, with tip-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT.

Following Thursday's game with the Lions, Coastal - South is scheduled to face Delgado (La.) and LBW (Ala.) over the next week before opening ACCC Division I action against Gadsden State (Ala.) on Jan. 15.
