JACK ROBERTSON ARENA | BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Women's Volleyball returned to the win column in emphatic fashion over the weekend, sweeping Southern Union State Community College (Ala.) 3-0 on Sept. 5 to snap a four-match losing streak and secure its first home victory of the 2026 season inside Jack Robertson Arena.

The Coyotes (2-4) controlled the match from the opening serve, taking the first set 25-10 before battling through a tightly contested second set, 26-24. Coastal - South closed out the afternoon with a 25-21 third-set victory to complete the sweep over the Bison.

The win also marked the second victory over Southern Union this season for the Coyotes, who previously defeated the Bison 3-0 in the season opener in Wadley, Ala.

Match Highlights

Coastal - South jumped out to a commanding start in the opening set, racing to a 25-10 victory. The Bison responded with a much closer second set, but the Coyotes remained composed late to edge Southern Union 26-24 and take a 2-0 match advantage.

The Coyotes carried that momentum into the third set, pulling away late to secure the 25-21 victory and complete their first home triumph of the season.

Second-year Coyotes Ella Kyker (6), Chloe Collison (6), Anique Self (5), and Elizabeth McMillan (5) led the Coyotes offensively with a combined 22 kills in the win, with the 'Yotes finishing with 34 kills total on a .163 team hitting percentage. Other contributors on the attack included Wendy Reyes Duenas and Brooklyn Wild, who each added four kills apiece.

Anna Musgrove orchestrated the Coastal Alabama - South offense with 33 assists and added three service aces and 12 digs. Lyric Thompson joined Musgrove with a team-high 12 digs in the victory, and Kaylee Worrell contributed 10 digs and three assists.

The Coyotes will look to carry the momentum from the first home victory of the year into a tournament next weekend in Andalusia, Ala.

LBW Crossover

The Coyotes are scheduled to return to action on Friday, Sept. 11 with a matchup against Jones College (Miss.) to kick off the LBW Crossover Tournament in Andalusia. Friday's match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT.

Coastal - South will then face Southwest Mississippi and Snead State (Ala.) the following day at 9:00 a.m. CT and 11:00 a.m. CT to conclude the weekend tourney.
