Box Score 1 BAY MINETTE, Ala. – The Coastal Alabama - South Women's Volleyball team dropped its two most recent matches this past week, falling to Bevill State (Ala.) on Friday, Sept. 26 and the then nationally-ranked Boll Weevils of Enterprise State (Ala.) on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Both matches resulted in 3-0 sweeps against Coastal - South as the Coyotes close out the month of September with two consecutive losses. The overall record fell to 7-15, while the ACCC record drops to 3-6 this season.
The Numbers
Against Bevill State in Fayette, Ala., the Coyotes pushed the Bears in a tight second set but ultimately came up short in the 3-0 loss (12-25, 24-26, 19-25). Zion Paden and Ella Kyker led the attack with seven kills each, with Paden hitting an impressive .583 in the match. Wendy Reyes Duenas contributed three kills and a team-high four service aces, while setter Anna Musgrove dished out 14 assists and chipped in six digs. Defensively, Sophie Sanchez and Anique Self paced the back row with 10 digs a piece.
The Coyotes returned to action at home on Tuesday, but were unable to find rhythm against Enterprise State, who ranked No. 24 before the latest NJCAA D-II Women's Volleyball Top 25 rankings were released. The Yotes fell in straight sets (7-25, 15-25, 14-25), being kept in check for the majority of the match. Ella Kyker again provided a spark offensively with a team-high eight kills while hitting .312. Kyker finished as the only Coyote to surpass three kills in the loss. Elizabeth McMillan added three kills and was strong at the net with three blocks, while Anique Self recorded eight digs and Anna Musgrove guided the offense with eight assists.
Coastal Alabama - South will look to regroup as it continues ACCC play this weekend.
Big Opportunity Ahead
The Coyotes have a chance to start the month of October out on the right foot as Coastal - South takes on the winless Patriots of Wallace - Selma (Ala.) next on the schedule. The match versus Wallace - Selma is scheduled for Friday evening, Oct. 4 at 5:00 p.m. CT and will be played in Selma, Ala. The Patriots are currently 0-13 on the 2025 campaign.
