Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - South Men's Basketball team delivered one of its most impressive performances of the season Monday night, Feb. 16, earning a 98-90 road victory over Lawson State Community College (Ala.) to snap a five-game losing streak. The win improves Coastal - South's overall record to 7-17 and 2-7 in ACCC Division I play. It also marks the Coyotes' first road victory since Jan. 22 at Calhoun Community College (Ala.) in Decatur.

Behind career nights from a dynamic duo, the Coyotes outlasted the Cougars in a high-scoring battle, shooting 47.7% from the floor as a team and knocking down 29-of-37 free throws (78.4%).

Williams, Jones Go Off for Season Highs

Josh Williams and Makhi Jones combined for a staggering 81 of the team's 98 points on Monday, each turning in season-high performances and help guide the Coyotes to victory.

Williams, who already sits atop ACCC in scoring, erupted for 43 points on 14-of-26 shooting, including 3-of-10 from beyond the arc, and went 12-of-15 at the free throw line. The sophomore added five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 37 minutes of action, consistently attacking the rim and delivering in key moments down the stretch. Williams improves his season average to 23.3 points per game on the year, being the only player averaging over 20 points this season.

Jones was equally dominant, pouring in 38 points on 11-of-22 shooting while connecting on all three of his three-point attempts. He was nearly automatic at the stripe, finishing 13-of-15, and contributed five rebounds and two blocks while playing all 40 minutes. Jones now sits eighth in the ACCC with 17.1 points per contest.

In addition to the impressive scoring display from Williams and Jones, Tyler Rivers anchored the interior with a monster effort on the boards, pulling down a season-best 18 rebounds (six offensive, 12 defensive) to go along with three points, two assists and a block. As a team, Coastal Alabama - South recorded 41 rebounds and collected 17 offensive boards to create second-chance opportunities.

AJ Thompson provided a spark off the bench with seven assists and three rebounds, helping facilitate the offense in a balanced attack, and BJ Cooks added seven points, two blocks and two steals in a strong all-around performance.

With momentum back on their side and a breakthrough road win secured, the 'Yotes will look to build on Monday night's statement performance as ACCC Division I play continues.

Five Remaining

Coastal - South's next on the schedule is set for Thursday night, Feb. 19 in Jack Robertson Arena in Bay Minette. The Coyote will host Calhoun on Thursday, with tip scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. Only five games remain during the regular season schedule as the Coyotes search for a late push towards postseason action.
