JACK ROBERTSON ARENA | BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Men's Basketball used a balanced offensive effort and a strong start to earn a 96-86 home victory over the University of Mobile JV (Ala.) on Thursday night, Dec. 11, snapping a three-game losing streak in the process and sweeping the Rams across two regular season games this year. Earlier this season, Coastal - South set a new program record in points scored in a single game against the Mobile JV squad, winning 155-83 on Nov. 17.
On Thursday, Coastal - South saw six Coyotes finish in double figures against the Rams, with four players pacing the team with 14 points a piece. With the victory, Coastal - South's overall record improves to 3-8 this season ahead of a big non-conference meeting at home on Monday night.
Offense Shares the Love
The Coyotes jumped out early and carried a 50-40 advantage into halftime before matching Mobile with 46 points in the second half to secure the 10-point win. All five starters contributed on the scoreboard, led by Bryce Bracco, Jacob Evans and BJ Cooks, who each finished with 14 points. Jaden Champion added 12 points, while Tyler Rivers chipped in five points to round out the starting lineup's production. Evans was perfect from the floor, shooting 7-for-7, and Rivers led the Yotes with a game-high 16 rebounds in the win.
The bench played a key role as well, highlighted by AJ Thompson, who also scored 14 points to lead the offensive production while collecting six rebounds and dishing out a team-high six assists. Micah Medley added 10 points off the bench as Coastal - South saw 10 players finish in the scoring column.
Coastal Alabama - South shot 40.5% from the field and finished with 53 rebounds and 23 assists on 34 made field goals, emphasizing ball movement and control throughout the contest.
Coastal Versus Coastal Ahead
The Coyotes from Coastal - South will look to carry the momentum forward as they continue non-conference play on Monday evening, Dec. 15, hosting counterpart Coastal Alabama - North in the process at Jack Robertson Arena. Monday's action in Bay Minette, Ala. is a scheduled doubleheader between the Coastal Alabama programs, with women's basketball kicking things off with a 5:30 p.m. CT tipoff, while men's basketball follows at 7:30 p.m. CT.
The sibling rivalry between Coastal - South and Coastal - North will be aired live on JockJive.com and is the final meeting of the season between the Coyotes.
