Box Score 2 WADLEY, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama South Baseball team won its third consecutive doubleheader on Friday, March 14, defeating Southern Union (Ala.) in the process. The Coyotes took game one in shutout fashion, winning 7-0 in seven innings, while collecting an 8-2 victory in Friday's second game.
Coastal South Baseball improves to 10-12 on the year, while staying perfect at 6-0 in the ACCC. The team has now won seven-straight games, with the last loss coming on February 25.
Game One Highlights
Coastal South managed 12 hits and seven runs in the game one victory, with Devon Murphy leading the way with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate. Murphy hit a home run in the third inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the sixth inning for his three hits in the game, driving in a pair of runs and scoring two runs himself. Meanwhile, Quincy Walters also notched three hits, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Joseph Stephens was the only other Coyote to record multiple hits in the game one shutout, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.Â
Game one was arguably highlighted by Dexter Benoit, who tossed a complete game shutout against the Bison. Benoit's final line included just four hits allowed across the seven innings, picking up six strikeouts. He walked just two.
Game Two HighlightsÂ
Later on Friday, the Coyotes rolled to an 8-2 win to earn the sweep. Bryson Morman tossed a complete game on the mound for Coastal South, working 11 strikeouts in the winning performance. Morman allowed just two earned runs and walked one, allowing only six hits.Â
At the plate, Devon Murphy added another three hits, finishing 3-for-5 for the second consecutive game. Murphy recorded his second homer of the day and drove in two. Bryce Speakman also picked up three hits in game two, driving in a pair. In total, the Coyotes recorded 12 hits in Friday's nightcap.Â

Coastal South and Southern Union are scheduled for an additional doubleheader later this weekend, coming on Sunday, March 16 in Bay Minette, Ala. Sunday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. CT, weather permitting.Â
