The nightcap in Bay Minette turned into an offensive slugfest, with Snead State outlasting Coastal, 17-15. The Coyotes' lineup produced a barrage of power, highlighted by Derek Jelen's two-home run performance. Jelen went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, three runs scored, and a walk. Carson Carrera led the team with four RBIs on a 3-for-5 day that included a home run, while Sean Green and Tyler DelVecchio also homered. Despite the explosive showing, Coastal was unable to overcome the defensive and pitching struggles in the high-scoring affair.
Two days later on the road in Boaz, Ala., Coastal - South fell 9-3 in game three of the series despite another strong outing from Jelen, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Rock Gearhart delivered a pinch-hit RBI double, and Noah Eady added a run batted in, but Snead State's offense proved too much as the Coyotes dropped their third straight game of the series.
The Coyotes responded in the finale with their most complete performance of the weekend, claiming a 7-5 victory. All seven Coastal runs came in a decisive fourth inning that flipped the game in their favor. Seth Payne and Derek Jelen each recorded two hits, with Jelen driving in two runs. Carrera, Sean Greene, Grayson Roberson, and Brooks Womble all contributed RBIs in the inning.
Starting pitcher John Henry Winstead delivered a solid outing, going 7.0 innings while allowing just one earned run despite five unearned runs crossing the plate. He scattered six hits and issued two walks. Out of the bullpen, Chris Floyd iced the game with two scoreless innings, striking out two and picking up the save.
Coastal Alabama - South will look to close out the 2026 campaign on a positive note as the regular season winds down with a four-game set against Gadsden State (Ala.) beginning on Thursday, Apr. 30.
