Box Score 4 BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama South Baseball team rolled past conference foe Snead State (Ala.) over Easter weekend, sweeping the Parsons across four games played from April 17-19. The two teams began the series with a doubleheader in Boaz, Ala. on Thursday, which saw Coastal South secure 6-0 and 10-2 wins. Two days later, the Yotes followed up their road sweep with a home sweep in Bay Minette after defeating Snead State 4-3 in walk-off fashion and 5-1 in the finale.
The four wins improves the overall record on the season to 25-19, while the ACCC record advances to 20-8, putting the Coyotes in a three-way tie for first in the conference standings with Shelton State (Ala.) and Gadsden State (Ala.).
Weekend Highlights
In the 6-0 shutout on Thursday, Coastal South out-hit Snead State 9-4, with Quincy Walters leading the offensive charge with two RBIs in the victory. Derek Jelen and Caden Mason both paced the team with two hits each in the win, with both players driving in one run. On the rubber, Talan Tourelle was lights out, tossing a complete-game shutout. Tourelle allowed just the four hits, adding two walks and five strikeouts in his winning performance.
Later on Thursday, the Coyotes secured a run-rule victory in eight innings. Coastal South scored three runs in the top of the eighth the force the run-rule win, holding the Parsons to just two runs in the game. Coastal South out-hit the Parsons 16-6 in game two.Â
Adison Scott finished 2-for-4 at the dish with three RBIs, while Caden Mason continued his strong start to the series with a 3-for-4 batting line, also driving in three runs. Mason finished his day with five hits and four RBIs in the series-opening doubleheader. On the mound, Bryson Morman tossed six innings as the starter, allowing just one earned run and picking up five strikeouts. Tyler Zawacki closed out the game with two hitless innings, striking out a pair.
Two days later, the Coyotes opened the home portion of the series with a walk-off victory over Snead State. Coastal South scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings before scoring the game-winning run one inning later. The Yotes out-hit the Parsons 11-9 in the walk-off win.
Caden Mason checked in late and finished 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, adding on to his hit and RBI total throughout the series. Mason connected on a pinch-hit solo homer in the seventh to help force extras before hitting a walk-off solo home run to end the game in the bottom of the eighth inning. Trevor Ferris earned the win on the mound after pitching 2 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits and no runs from out of the bullpen.
In the series finale, Coastal South cruised to a 5-1 victory, relying on a three-run fourth inning to put the game away. Mason picked up another RBI in the finale, finishing 0-for-1 at the plate with a walk. Derek Jelen and Silas Cunningham both recorded one RBI a piece in the four-run win. On the mound, Garrett Milbourn finished with a complete-game performance, allowing six hits and one unearned run. He struck out three.Â
Wallace State - Hanceville (Ala.) On Deck
The Coyotes are set to meet Wallace State - Hanceville for a four-game series next on the schedule, starting on Thursday, April 24 at home. Thursday's doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT. The series will conclude in Hanceville, Ala. on Saturday.
