UNION GROVE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama South Men's Golf team came home seventh overall at the ACCC Men's Golf Regional Championship Tournament that wrapped up on April 8, with the Coyotes finishing with an overall team score of 620 (+44) across two rounds played. The tournament was originally scheduled for three rounds beginning on Sunday, April 6, but weather during the first round forced the ACCC to update the tournament to just two rounds on the par 72 course in Union Grove, Ala. Wallace State - Hanceville (Ala.) eventually won this year's conference tournament with a 587 (+11) team score.
Jake Temple highlighted the tourney for Coastal South, being the lone Coyote to earn a spot on the ACCC Men's Golf All-Conference Team this season. Additionally, Temple was eventually named to the ACCC Men's Golf All-Tournament Team after shooting even par (E) across both rounds and placing tied for second overall out of 75 total entrants. Temple managed four birdies and an eagle in round one, while collecting three birdies and just three bogeys in round two. He was over par on just five of the 36 holes played.
Brant White followed Temple with a tie for 35th place, recording a 158 (+14) in the process. Steven Shelton then followed tied for 40th overall with five other competitors, finishing 15 strokes above par. Zachary Smith shot just two strokes worse than Shelton in a tie for 49th, scoring a +17, and Austin Vilborg wrapped up Coastal South's performances in 60th with a +20.
The Coyotes are scheduled to return to action for the Southeast District Championship on April 20-22 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
