Coyotes Roll Past Lancers
Coastal South hit the scoreboard in the very first inning on a beautiful, clear Tuesday afternoon, followed by an additional run in the second frame. Up 2-0 entering the bottom half of the third inning, the Coyote offense exploded for seven runs, all coming with two outs on the board. From there, the Coastal South pitching staff held Lake County off the scoreboard and the game was eventually called early in the fifth inning due to the NJCAA run rule.Â
In three at-bats, Kailin Parker finished 2-for-3 and led the Coyotes with four RBIs in the 9-0 win. Parker cleared the bases in the third inning with a double to left center field for the biggest hit of the game. In total, Coastal South only recorded seven hits in the shortened game, but managed to work 10 walks against the Lake County pitching staff. Gabby Miller led the team with three walks, scoring two runs in the process.
In the pitcher's circle, Anna Griggs picked up the win after throwing three scoreless innings to open Tuesday's ballgame. Griggs allowed only two hits and struck out three Lancers across her three frames of work. Gracie Toledano closed out the win with two innings of work from out of the bullpen, allowing no hits, two walks, and working a pair of strikeouts in the non-save situation.
