GADSDEN, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - South Softball battled through four games on the road and came away with a split against Gadsden State (Ala.) in ACCC play, closing the series strong with back-to-back wins. The Coyotes now sit at 29-20 overall and 16-12 in conference action, currently holding fourth place in the ACCC Division I standings.
Four-Game Set at Gadsden
Coastal - South dropped the first two contests before responding with an offensive surge in the final two games to secure the split.
The series opened with a tough 9-1 loss in five innings, as the Coyotes were limited to just one hit offensively. Charlotte Lottinger accounted for the lone hit, finishing 1-for-2 with a run scored, while Brianna Ryan drove in Lottinger with a sacrifice fly.
Later that day, game two proved to be a heartbreaker for the 'Yotes. The Coyotes carried a 3-2 lead into the final inning, but Gadsden State rallied for two runs to claim a 4-3 victory. Kaeden Enzor led the offense for Coastal with a 2-for-3 performance and a walk, while Lottinger added a run scored. Mackenzie Boullon delivered a strong showing both at the plate and in the pitcher's circle, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored while tossing a complete game. Riley Dunnam contributed with a double and a run in the loss.
Facing a potential sweep, the Coyotes responded emphatically in game three the following day with an 11-5 win behind a strong offensive performance. Charlotte Lottinger turned in a perfect 4-for-4 performance, including three doubles, two RBIs, and three runs scored, while Sydni Carpenter blasted her 17th home run of the season, finishing with two RBIs and two runs scored, while also moving within one homer of matching her total from last season (18). Ava Gradick added two hits and two RBIs, while Kaeden Enzor and Addy Stein also contributed with hits. Sam Daniels earned the win in the circle, going the distance (7.0 IP, 8 H, 5 UER, 3 K, 4 BB).

In the series finale Coastal - South carried that momentum against Gadsden State, outlasting the Cardinals 10-6 in extra innings. After tying the game at 6-6 in the seventh to force extras, the Coyotes erupted for four runs in the ninth to eventually secure the victory.
Riley Dunnam led the way with a 3-for-5 effort, including two doubles, two RBIs, and a run scored. Ava Gradick and Payson Hanson each doubled, while Addy Stein drove in two runs. Mackenzie Boullon capped an impressive weekend with a complete-game effort in the circle, tossing all nine innings, while also contributing offensively with a double, RBI, two walks, and two runs scored.
With the regular season nearing its conclusion, the Coyotes will look to build on their late-series momentum as they continue ACCC play this upcoming week.
One Regular Season Series Remains
Coastal - South Softball is set for just four regular season games remaining on the 2026 schedule, beginning with a road doubleheader on Thursday, May 7 at Wallace State - Hanceville (Ala.). Thursday's doubleheader in Hanceville, Ala. is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT.
The Coyotes will return home on Saturday, May 9 to conclude the regular season with a 12:00 p.m. CT doubleheader against the Lions in Bay Minette, Ala.
