BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The 2026 season was one for the history books for Coastal Alabama - South Softball sophomore catcher Sydni Carpenter, as the Remlap, Ala. native officially became the program's single-season home run record holder with 20 long balls during the Coyotes' 2026 campaign.
Carpenter surpassed the previous program record of 18 home runs, a mark she originally tied during her freshman season in 2025. One year later, she returned and raised the standard even higher, finishing two home runs ahead of the previous record.
The historic milestone came in dramatic fashion during the 2026 ACCC Division I Softball Championship Tournament in Alabaster, Ala. After hitting just two home runs between April 16 and May 15, Carpenter exploded offensively in postseason play, blasting three home runs during the tournament to officially break the record.
Â
Carpenter capped off her sophomore season as one of the most dangerous hitters in the ACCC, finishing with a .429 batting average, 20 home runs, and 63 RBIs across 58 games played.
Her combination of power and consistency helped lead the Coyotes throughout the 2026 season and further cemented her place among the top players in program history.
From matching the record as a freshman to owning it outright as a sophomore, Carpenter's career at Coastal Alabama - South will be remembered as one of the most dominant offensive stretches the program has ever seen.
Carpenter has committed to the University of North Georgia to continue her collegiate softball career.Â
