How It Happened
The Coyotes opened the scoring early in game one of Saturday's DH, pushing across two runs in the first inning. Coastal South then added an additional run in the fourth before the Patriots managed two runs during the bottom half. Coastal South put the game away with a three-run fifth inning, later adding an insurance run in the seventh to eventually win, 7-3. The Coyotes out-hit Northwest Shoals 10-6 in game one, with neither team committing an error across the seven innings.
Kailin Parker notched three RBIs in the victory, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate. Taylor Hunt followed with a 3-for-3 performance, recording two RBIs. From the pitcher's circle, Lauren Mounce continued her strong 2025 campaign with a complete game effort, allowing six hits, three runs, and picking up four strikeouts.Â
In game two, the Coyotes built momentum from the game one victory and shut down the Pats' offense despite recording just two hits in the winning performance. Similar to Saturday's first game, the Coyotes scored runs in the very first inning to set the tone of the game and later scored two more insurance runs in the sixth to eventually win, 5-0.
Taylor Hunt put together another strong game offensively, finishing 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. She recorded the only two hits for Coastal South in the nightcap as the team capitalized on walks, errors, and hit-by-pitches. Northwest Shoals out-hit the Coyotes 4-2 in game two, but finished with no runs. Anna Griggs picked up the win from the circle with a complete game shutout, striking out five batters.
"I am so proud of the girls for their resilience on the field," said Coastal South Head Coach Mallory Radwitch after Saturday's sweep. "Our pitchers threw well, defense was flawless, and offense capitalized on Northwest Shoals mistakes as we stayed aggressive on the bases."
