Box Score 2 BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama South Softball team hosted counterpart Coastal Alabama North for an afternoon doubleheader on Tuesday, March 25 in Bay Minette, Ala., with the South Coyotes prevailing with two wins. Coastal South won 3-2 in a close game to begin action on warm Tuesday afternoon, while exploding for a 15-0 run-rule win in game two.
For the Coyotes down south, the overall record improves to 24-14 during the 2025 campaign. Meanwhile, Coastal North falls to 6-30 on the season.
The Highlights
Across game one, Coastal South managed to out-hit Coastal North 11-5, but only squeaked by with a one-run win. Coastal South hit the scoreboard first with a single run in the first inning before taking a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Coastal North then tied the game late with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning following defensive miscues. However, Coastal South responded and pushed across the go-ahead and eventual winning run in the bottom half of the sixth to secure the game one victory.
Kailin Parker and Sydni Carpenter paced the offense with three hits a piece in Tuesday's first game, with Parker collecting a homer, two RBIs and scoring two runs. Taylor Hunt joined Parker with an RBI in the win, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. In the pitcher's circle, Sam Daniels threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing two unearned runs, two walks, and striking out two batters. Lauren Mounce came into the ballgame from out of the bullpen in the sixth and finished the game with 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win on the rubber.Â
In game two, the Coastal South offense exploded for 15 runs off 15 hits, ending the game after five innings. Seven runs were scored across both the first and second frames, with Coastal South scoring the 15th run of the game in the fourth. Coastal North was held scoreless and recorded just two hits in the defeat.
Kailin Parker continued her strong day with two more hits, finishing 2-for-4 in game two with an RBI and run scored. Caroline Mathis managed a 2-for-3 showing in game two, tallying three RBIs and two runs scored. She added a walk to her line. The big bat across Tuesday's finale came from Brianna Ryan, who paced the team with five RBIs in the blowout. Ryan finished 2-for-2 with a double and scored two runs in the process.
On the rubber, Caylee Johnson was awarded the start and tossed three innings to pick up the win. Mathis allowed both of Coastal North's two hits in the run-rule win, striking out three batters. Gracie Toledano pitched the remaining two innings, allowing no hits and striking out two.Â
Small Break Before Return to Conference Action
Following the doubleheader against Coastal North, the Coyotes of Coastal South will return to action at home in just over a week, facing Calhoun C.C. (Ala.) for a doubleheader on Friday, April 4. Next Friday's DH in Bay Minette is set for 12:00 p.m. CT.
