Yotes Split Home Doubleheader with Shelton State

Coastal South Softball Manages Split with Bucs of Shelton State on Thursday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama South Softball split a conference doubleheader with Shelton State C.C. (Ala.) on Thursday evening, April 10, defeating the Bucs 7-3 in game one before falling 5-2 in the nightcap. The Coyotes continue to approach the 30-win mark during the 2025 season, seeing the overall record move to 28-16 on the year following Thursday's results. Additionally, the Coyotes are 10-8 in the ACCC, sitting just ahead of Shelton State in the conference standings.

The two teams are scheduled for an additional doubleheader on Saturday to close out the four-game weekend series.

Yotes Split with Bucs

In game one, Shelton State opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with three runs. However, Coastal South managed seven unanswered runs across the next three frames to secure the win. The Coyotes collected seven hits compared to the Bucs' four.

Sydni Carpenter and Charlotte Lottinger each notched two RBIs in the win, with Carpenter recording a homer. Lottinger was the only Coyote to record multiple hits in Thursday's first game, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. Meanwhile, Anna Griggs earned the win from out of the bullpen, tossing four strong innings and allowing just one hit and no runs.

Shelton State managed to bounce back in game two, relying on four runs across the first two innings. Coastal South began chipping away at the 4-0 lead with two runs in the fourth, but a late insurance run for the Bucs in the sixth inning halted any momentum the Coyotes were building.

Maleah Hale led the offense with a 2-for-3 game at the dish, while Gabby Miller drove in both Coyote runs after going 1-for-3 with a walk. In the pitcher's circle, Caylee Johnson was unable to record an out as the starter as Anna Griggs was forced to throw three innings from out of the 'pen. Sam Daniels closed out the game with four innings of work, striking out four and allowing just one unearned run.

Headed to T-Town

Coastal South and Shelton State are scheduled for another doubleheader coming on Saturday, April 12 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Saturday's DH is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. CT.
