Coastal Alabama South Softball Splits Four-Game Series with Snead State During Easter Weekend

Coyotes Split Series with Parsons

BOAZ, Ala. - Coastal Alabama South Softball managed a series split with Snead State (Ala.) over the weekend, with the four-game series being played from April 16-18. The two teams began the series in Bay Minette, Ala. on Thursday where the Parsons managed a 12-2 victory in five innings. Coastal South followed that tough series-opening loss with a 5-1 win later that afternoon. One day later in Boaz, Ala., Coastal South dropped a heartbreaking 6-5 game to begin action on Friday, but bounced back with an 8-5 win to close out the series.

After the split, the Coyotes are now 32-18 overall on the season and 14-10 in the ACCC.

Friday Highlights

Coastal South held a 5-1 advantage entering the final inning of game one in Boaz over the weekend, but allowed Snead State to storm back with five runs in the seventh to secure a walk-off victory. Both teams collected nine hits in the game, with the Parsons riding a last-inning comeback to break the hearts of the Coyotes.

Payson Hanson and Caroline Mathis both recorded two hits each in the tough loss, while Sam Daniels and Anna Griggs allowed the comeback in the pitcher's circle. Five of the six runs scored for Snead State were recorded as earned runs.

In the series finale, Coastal South bounced back and tallied an 8-5 win after scoring seven runs alone in the sixth inning. Brianna Ryan led the offensive charge with three RBIs, finishing 2-for-4 at the plate with a homer. Meanwhile, Maleah Hale finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the victory. On the rubber, Anna Griggs got the start and tossed two innings, allowing three unearned runs. Lauren Mounce and Gracie Toledano pitched the remainder of the game, with Toledano throwing 1 1/3 hitless and scoreless innings to close out the win.

Tough Test Ahead

Coastal South is set to return to action on Thursday, April 24 with a road doubleheader at 12:00 p.m. CT. Thursday's action begins a four-game series with Wallace State - Hanceville, who ranks No. 10 in the NJCAA. The series will conclude on Saturday, April 26 with a doubleheader at home in Bay Minette, Ala.
