Box Score 2 MOBILE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - South Softball team earned a doubleheader split on the road against Bishop State Community College (Ala.) on Feb. 20 to begin the weekend, dropping a tight opener before responding with an offensive explosion in the second game against the non-divisional foe. The overall record improves to 7-5 for the Coyotes following the split.
Game One | Bishop State 11, Coastal - South 10
Coastal - South battled back-and-forth throughout the opener but came up just short as Bishop State delivered a walk-off victory in the final inning, scoring two runs after the 'Yotes managed to stage a late comeback.
Coastal - South totaled 10 runs on six hits and worked seven walks, with several players delivering key run-producing at-bats. Emma Olive led the way with a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning, while Riley Dunnam added three RBIs. Anna Robin and Raeleigh Hocker also drove in runs in the contest.
Charlotte Lottinger also sparked the offense with a triple and scored twice, while Brianna Ryan and Brooke Cooper each recorded hits. Coastal - South also showed patience at the plate, drawing multiple walks from Dunnam, Sydni Carpenter, and others to keep pressure on Bishop State's pitching staff.
In the circle, Jacey Reed started the game, with Anna Robin providing 4.2 innings of relief. Samantha Daniels was charged with the loss after pitching the final inning. Only two of the 11 Bishop State runs to cross home plate were earned runs as Coastal - South committed seven total errors in the loss.
Game Two | Coastal - South 16, Bishop State 6 (5 innings)
The Coyotes responded in a big way in the nightcap, erupting for 16 runs on 19 hits to secure a run-rule victory in five innings.
Coastal's offense was led by Sydni Carpenter, who delivered another standout performance, going 4-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs. Charlotte Lottinger also had a big game, finishing 3-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored, while Riley Dunnam went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. For Carpenter, the sophomore currently sits atop the ACCC with 22 RBIs on the season, while sitting third in the conference with a .514 batting average.
Additional contributions came from across the lineup. Riley Bennett collected two hits and an RBI, Madison Griffith added a run-scoring hit, and Breleigh Corley, Chloe Krey, Fancy Malone, and Kaeden Enzor each recorded hits as Coastal kept the offense rolling throughout the game.
In the circle, Samantha Daniels bounced back to earn the win, tossing all five innings while allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits and striking out one.
Coastal - South's explosive performance in the second game capped a strong offensive day overall, as the Coyotes combined for 26 runs across the doubleheader.

The Coyotes are set for another non-divisional doubleheader against ACCC competition next on the schedule, coming on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Reid State (Ala.). First pitch of game one against Reid State is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT.
