Box Score 2 EVERGREEN, Ala. -Â The Coastal Alabama - South Softball team continued its strong start to the 2026 campaign on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 24, sweeping an ACCC non-divisional doubleheader from Reid State Technical College (Ala.) in Evergreen. The Coyotes earned a pair of run-rule victories, 15-2 and 12-1, to improve to 9-5 overall on the season.
Coastal has now opened the year with 14 consecutive road contests and will return home on Wednesday for its long-awaited home opener.
Carpenter Powers Explosive Offense in Evergreen
The Coyotes set the tone early in the opener, manufacturing a run in the second inning before erupting for six runs in the third to seize control. Coastal added seven more runs in the fourth and tacked on another in the fifth to put the game out of reach. Reid State plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the deficit proved too much as Coastal secured the 15-2 victory in five innings.
Brianna Ryan ignited the third-inning surge with a three-run home run and finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Sydni Carpenter matched Ryan with three RBIs, going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a double. Riley Bennett delivered a perfect 3-for-3 performance with three RBIs of her own.
Additional offensive contributions came from Riley Dunnam (2-for-3, two walks), Charlotte Lottinger (1-for-2, two RBIs), Madison Griffith (1-for-2, two RBIs), and Breleigh Corley (2-for-2, walk, three runs scored).
In the circle, Anna Robin earned the win after tossing three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out two. Mackenzie Boullon worked the final two innings in relief, surrendering two runs (one earned) on two hits with one strikeout.
Coastal's offense remained relentless in game two, racing to a 12-1 run-rule victory in five innings to complete the sweep.
Carpenter delivered a performance for the record books, launching three home runs in the nightcap and finishing a grand slam shy of the home run cycle. She opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning, added a three-run blast in the second, and capped her day with a solo shot in the fourth. Carpenter totaled six RBIs in game two and finished the doubleheader 5-for-7 with four home runs and nine RBIs.
Through 14 games, Carpenter leads ACCC Division I with eight home runs and 31 RBIs.
Lottinger continued her productive day in game two, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored, and a walk. Dunnam, Corley, Addy Stein, and Griffith each drove in a run in the victory.
Jacey Reed earned the start in the circle and was dominant, working 4.2 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out four. Halona Walker recorded the final out to preserve the five-inning win.
